Mike Was Gold, Man!

Best eviction show yet this year! No Kyle spitting his fire in every direction. Just the biggest BB fan ever with great live audience skills having a chat about what is going on. Mike proved he knew about what was going on in the show, and got the audience more involved than ever. It almost got to a point where he was stealing the show from Jackie, but by the end the two of them were doing a great job together.

This was the first time Mike has ever gotten to speak to HMs while they were in the House. The HMs were as surprised as he was. Nobbi even got in a crack about him not having hair.

And what a great week for Mike to do his work experience hosting the Eviction show. He got to interview the 3 new Intruders before they entered, and host the additional part of the show where the Intruders entered the House.

I'm not sure how we can go back to Kyle after this treat for the week, but I'm sure he'll be back next week. The format of the show will be a lot more streamlined next week with the Noms and Evictions reverting to the way they used to be, so no more HMs nominating during the Eviction show. Let's just see if this gets Mike a bigger hosting job in future. So far, from what I have read on BBBA forums, the reaction is very positive. Maybe this will be his door back into hosting UpLate when the cricket is over.

Mike Goldman Lands Dream Role

The most dedicated member of the BB team since Day 1 in 2001, Mike Goldman, will tonight, at last, step up as co-host of the Live Eviction show. It's the role he was born to play.

His CV with BB includes:
  • Voice-overs on Daily Shows and pre-recorded specials (BB01-present)
  • Live Crowd Warm-Up: Launch, Evictions, Noms, Finale, Specials (BB01-BB07)
  • Host of UpLate, live, 5 nights a week (BB03-BB07)
  • Host of Friday Night Live (BB05-present)

Now, as we all expected, Kyle is sick! Not a migrane though, it is bronchitis. So tonight Mike and Jackie will host the Eviction and Intruder combo show. What a great night for him to get in on the action. And if the ratings are good, and fan response is positive, it might even pave the way to a full-time hosting role next year.

On the topic, Mike blogs:

I started out 8 years ago on Big Brother as the voice-over guy and crowd warm up dreaming one day of hosting its flagship Sunday show. Kind of weird doing it just because King Kyle is sick, but either way its going to be a blast. Kyle has been great for the show, they’re big shoes to fill and I hope he gets better. You never know, he might even show up just in time for tonights show and I could be in the audience knocking back a few beers.

Mike has already hosted with Jackie O before, stepping in for Kyle on their Sydney radio show several times when Kyle was unavailable or unwell.

Good on ya Mike. Break a leg!

Rebecca Wilson Sounds A Little Like Her

Listen out for it tomorrow night on Big Mouth...

Who thinks Rebecca Wilson sounds exactly like Jeanne Little! Ohhhh Gawwwd, Daaaarlings!

In fact she even looks a bit like her!

HMs Pass, Ollie Stays

I can't believe it, but Alice actually managed to train Ollie to perform 6 commands perfectly in five days. It is probably more to Ollie's credit than Alice's. But her final demonstration to BB was almost flawless, bringing the doctor to tears.

Alice passed the task for the HMs, providing them with luxury foods for the next week, but the HMs also passed a task. As they all followed the guidelines for caring for Ollie while he was in the House, Ollie gets to stay with them until further notice.

Hopefully he won't be too distracting from the show. All week we have watched a show about a dog. But he has helped the HMs to open up, providing listening ears and a closed mouth for them to share their secrets with.

Assuming they have to continue his training, it will be like doing this week's task over and over until he leaves. And I get the feeling Ollie will be leaving shortly after Alice gets evicted, whenever that might be.

Ollie has been added to my Housemates chart at the top of the front page of my blog now as a House Guest.

Poll About Nothing

The OS has a poll at the moment:

As Head of House, Renee will...
  • Be amazing.
  • Not as good as Alice.
  • Struggle to boss the HMs.
Since when have we ever seen the HoH do any bossing? Aside from some small decision making, choosing what is bought from the Vending Machine, and hosting the Family Dinner, the HoH is never seen to do anything with their role. I think BB has introduced too many "powers" this year and is struggling to coordinate them all.

Housemates Hypnotised: Sure They Were!

I don't know what the deal is with hypnotism. I'm sure hypnosis is real enough, but not the type we saw in the House this week. Not the stage-hypnotist style of cheap laughs.

Peter Powers just reminded me too mch of Kenny Craig in Little Britain. "Look into my eyes, look into my eyes... 3, 2, 1... you're under!" How are intelligent viewers supposed to believe the whole "when I snap my fingers twice" crap they pulled?

Notice how the 6 HMs "most susceptible to hypnosis" were also the ones most likely to do any crap they're told to get themselves some airtime! I don't know what the deal is. Do they get paid to act like fools and say the whole thing was real? Do they sign non-disclosure agreements?

Anyway, Dixie and Rory were definitely not all that into it. They laughed through most of the scenarios. During the Restaurant scenario, Peter Powers told them all to sleep when Dixie had a mouthful of food. Now, we'd be led to believe that when told to "sleep" by the stage hypnotist, the hypnotised person will just do it. Dixie actually just looked him in the eyes as if to say "how am I supposed to sleep when I'm eating", leading Powers to go on and say that Dixie could sleep and continue to eat, at which point she unrealistically dropped her head, and kept on chewing! Hilarious, but utter crap.

This "special" was probably one of the worst BB has pulled. It was unrealistic, barely funny, and had no introduction or explanation of why it was happening. It was a waste of time, added no insight into the HMs involved (other than they are probaly in it for 15 minutes of fame), and provided unnecessary exposure to the "outside world".

At least the Carson specials were given purpose, and Carson is a much more outgoing and likeable guest. Peter Powers has no powers and is boring and childish.

Another One Bites the Dust

Travis has been out of the House now for almost 24 hours with an infected eye. He was ambushed by Nobbi, Rory and Ben when coming out of the toilet and got squirted with shower gel. Some of the product got into his eye and despite their efforts to flush it with water, it was still stinging.

During FNL, to add insult to injury, they strapped backwards binoculars to head and told him to play soccer! He was hardly participating in the game and the hosts didn't seem to know what was wrong with him. Shortly after this he was removed for medical treatment.

The OS states he was taken to hospital for treatment and they were waiting on doctors' OK to return to the House.

It has now been almost 24 hours and he is still not in there. Hopefully he will return tonight, or at least tomorrow. I wonder what they would do if he was not back in the House and he ended up in the bottom 3 for eviction. I guess he'd have to be exempt for the week not being there to vote on his behalf and so on.

Hopefully Travis is "locked down" and not with his family. A ninja is sufficient to keep him away from fans and outside interferences.
